Hiring Assignment

Klarna: AI-Assisted Creative Production

A hiring exercise for Klarna's AI Creative Specialist role, not a commissioned or published campaign. The brief was to show social-first AI production and explain the creative choices.

Role, Creative Direction · AI-Assisted Production

01

The Assignment

  • A 15 to 20 second UGC-style Klarna Card ad with a believable, consistent AI character and lo-fi TikTok feel.
  • A 10 to 15 second creative ad built on one Klarna Card benefit, with a pattern interrupt in the first two seconds.
  • A short rationale for each, plus earlier AI work and the workflows behind it.

What I Made

Scroll-Stopping Ad

The benefit: Klarna Card works wherever Visa is accepted. It opens like a serious rap music video in a convenience store, then flips to bubblegum pop and everyone dances. The shift is the hook: paying is easier and more familiar than you expect.

UGC Shopping Challenge

A dry-humoured shopper, overwhelmed by her For You Page, takes on a $150 fashion challenge and reviews what arrives. The Klarna Card shows up casually at checkout, not as a hard sell.

How I Made It

  • Researched real UGC on TikTok and YouTube, plus music video and camera references, to set the look: handheld, daylight, imperfect framing.
  • Wrote the concepts, storyboarded and planned the shots, from controlled static frames to looser movement after the music flip.
  • Generated and tested visuals and voices with a selective AI toolbox, including Midjourney, Sora, Kling, Adobe Firefly, Canva AI and ChatGPT for prompts and script.
  • Directed the final edit, timing and pacing myself in CapCut.
